This beautiful honeymoon takes you to Tarangire National Park, where groups of elephants show you how to start a family. Then it’s on to Serengeti National Park, where you find yourself on endless plains full of wildlife. Here you meet with the most beautiful sunrises, maybe even in a hot air balloon…! The best pictures of your honeymoon can be shot subsequently in the Ngorongoro Crater. Last but not least you fly to Zanzibar, for some quintessential romance on pearly white beaches, crystal blue ocean, and beautiful resorts.
This private safari offers you the flexibility to travel at your own pace exactly how you like it. You will have a private safari vehicle and guide.
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport - Arusha
Upon arrival on Kilimanjaro International Airport our guide will be waiting for you. He takes you straight to your lodge, while you take in your first impressions of Africa along the route. Smell the nature, hear the roosters and enjoy Arusha’s colourful streets. Once you are settled in your hotel, you can relax near the swimming pool while nursing your cool Tanzanian drink. Karibuni sana!
This honeymoon comes with a private safari – the very epitome of romance! You will have your own safari jeep with private guide. Together with your guide you decide what time your gamedrives start and finish, but also how long you wish to remain watching certain animals. Feel free to ask your guide everything that comes to mind – the Patagonia Safaris guides know all there is to know about this country and its wildlife and they love to share their knowledge with you…!
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
Giants are fighting for your attention in the 2600 square kilometer of Tarangire National Park, which is famous for its big herds of elephants and its century old giant baobab trees. Besides, many other animals reside here next to the Tarangire River, and so it’s no wonder many people love Tarangire!
Patagonia safaris guide readily explains why so many elephants choose Tarangire over other National Parks, after which he takes you to the best spots to see them. The dry season (June to October) is the most favorable time to visit this national park, with the Tarangire River attracting wildlife from afar. If you want to do something special during your stay here, you can choose to view the elephants from above, by hopping in a hot air balloon.
On your way to Tarangire it’s possible to make a stop in a picturesque Maasai village. And if you want to add an extra day, you can choose to continue from Tarangire to Lake Eyasi where you can go hunting with the Hadzabe in the morning. This tribe is still one with nature, living in the outback of Tanzania.
Day 3-4: Serengeti National Park
Submerge yourself in this unique landscape, while wildebeests and zebras pass you by in their Great Migration.Spot lions on groups of rocks called kopjes, leopards in single trees or cheetahs hunting for a calf in between the wildebeests. Pass by giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, gazelles and a vervet cat or wild dog if you are lucky. The epitome of romance you can experience in a hot air balloon above these plains (which can even have the shape of a heart!).
Have a lovely overnight in a luxury safaritent, with a staff that knows how to give newly weds just that bit of extra during dinner for example. Cuddle up at night while listening to the distant roar of a lion or the bellowing of the Great Migration herds. This is the true safari experience! Subsequently you will pass through the Ngorongoro Highlands on your way to or from Serengeti, an impressive landscape where you might run into groups of giraffes or some members of resident Maasai tribes.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This means that today you stand a big chance to spot some members of the Big Five: lions, elephants and buffaloes roam around here in numbers. Last but not least the crater is home to a few dozen rare black rhinos, which makes this the best place to spot one! The Conservation Area itself is much bigger than just this crater – in this area you can find multiple calderas and also Olduvai Gorge (with the oldest human remains in the world) can be found here. Driving there you can visit some beautiful Maasai villages, and if your time allows it you can even do a guided walking safari on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Day 6: A day full of romance!
This might be a good day for a special excursion as well: you could for example make a beautiful roadtrip to the Empekai Crater. There you can have a picnic on the craters edge or down below near the lake full of flamingo’s. A Maasai wedding might also be to your liking, where you (again) get married in the style of the Maasai. Dressed in beautiful Maasai blankets and dressed up with colourful beaded jewelry, you marry (again), surrounded by singing and dancing Maasai tribesmen.
Day 7 - 13: Zanzibar
Nothing can be more romantic that stepping out of your safari jeep, into the plane, fly over the African land and a blue ocean, only to arrive on the pearly white beaches of Zanzibar! Enjoy the beautiful resort, lovely cocktails under the palm trees and dive into the ocean or the pool.
Watch local fishermen bring in their catch of the day in their old fashioned wooden dhows, after which you order that catch for your dinner or lunch in one of the restaurants. And if then the sun sets in the evening covering everything in a red glow while you sit on the beach, you realize you have found yourself in a romantic paradise…
